I am a designer / illustrator based in Salt Lake City, Utah. I began my own creative studio after years of agency and in-house work. My unique blend of experience has taught me much about how to build brands. As an in-house creative-director and designer, I learned intimately how my creative and marketing work interplays with the other team members sitting at the boardroom table. As a senior designer at several agencies, I have had the opportunity to tackle large, complex projects for well-known worldwide brands, both as part of a team, and solo. And as principal of Russ Gray Design, I have worked both directly with companies, as well as for agencies as a remote team member.
My agency work has been for clients such as Nickelodeon, Sony Pictures, Universal, Dreamworks, McDonald's, and many more. I've worked directly for clients such as Disney Publishing, Google, Franklin Mill, Chapters / Indigo (bookstore, Canada), and New Scientist Magazine. My work has been recognized by Communication Arts, IdN Magazine, Stationery Trends Magazine, Package Design Magazine, Letterhead and Logo Design (Rockport Publishers), Best Practices of Packaging Design (Rockport Publishers), DieLine (top posts of 2014), Packaging of the World, Association of Illustrators Prize for Illustration 2015 exhibition (London).
